Publication of the “ Bulletin” was first published as an experiment by the Bookhams Social Services Bureau in the Summer of 1933. It was felt by them that it might fill a gap in Bookham’s social life, and perhaps be of some assistance in bringing residents more in touch with the various local activities. After a year doubts were expressed by the Editor as to whether it had the support it needed to continue. However, he need not have feared as it is still published today (now under the steady hand of the Bookham Community Association) and is popular as ever with Bookham residents. Whilst the early editions were printed in black and white, with wartime issues reduced in size to save paper, the current editions are much larger and printed in colour.
